Blue River Trips
Milltown to Rothrock Mill
This trip is approximately 12 miles and can take from 3 to 6 hours depending on the water level and paddler enthusiasms. When the water is lower (under 2.5 feet) there are plenty of sandbars to pull over and picnic. This is a good trip with several areas of ripples and plenty of deep swimming holes but can become crowded during the season. Pull out is marked with a large sign at the mill/DNR access point.
Rothrock Mill to Blue River Chapel
This trip is approximately 13 miles and can take up to 6 hours to complete. This is my favorite trip on the Blue River due to almost constant ripples and plenty of seclusion. The river really twists and turns through Crawford County's hill country. These turns provide plenty of ripples and great fishing for bass and sauger.
Blue River Chapel to Old Iron Bridge
This is about 8 miles long and can be shortened to around 6 miles by putting in at Stagestop Campground. This trip can be done in 4 hours or less and is also very scenic and secluded. If you are looking for quiet and beauty this is a great trip for you. A few ripples will keep things exciting and provide some great fishing opportunities.
